I Was Searching for My Life Purpose. I Found It in My Days Instead.

For years, I believed I needed to find my life purpose.

Capital P. One big answer. The thing I was meant to do with my life.

And I believed that once I found it, everything else would fall into place. I would know which path to take. I would feel fulfilled. I would finally stop feeling like something was missing.

So I searched.

The Pressure of the Big Question

When I left my corporate career, I didn't have a plan. What I had was a deep sense that something had to change, and a nagging question I couldn't answer.

What is my purpose?

I read the books. I did the exercises. I journaled until my hand hurt. I asked everyone around me what they thought I was good at.

And the more I searched, the more pressure I felt. Every day I didn't have an answer felt like a day wasted. I was so focused on finding this one big thing that I wasn't really living the days I had.

I was waiting to find my purpose before I allowed myself to live purposefully.

I got it wrong.

The Shift

The shift came quietly.

I realised that purpose isn't something you find once and then hold forever. It's something you live, one day at a time.

So instead of asking "What is my life purpose?", I started asking a much smaller question:

"How can I live today with purpose?"

That question I could answer. Every single morning.

Some days it meant being fully present with my sons over breakfast instead of scrolling through emails. Some days it meant showing up for a client with my whole heart. Some days it meant resting, because I knew I couldn't give anything from an empty cup.

It wasn't dramatic. But it was real. And it was mine.

What Happened Next

When I started living each day with purpose, something unexpected happened.

I started noticing what felt meaningful.I paid attention to the moments that lit me up and the ones that drained me. I noticed that I felt most alive when I was helping a woman see herself more clearly. When I was learning. When I was building something that could ripple out beyond me.

I started doing more of what mattered. Once I could see it, I could choose it. I said yes to more of the things that felt meaningful, and gently said no to the things that didn't.

I started meeting people who energised me. This surprised me most. When you live with purpose, you start to attract people who are living the same way. Women who inspire me. Friends who challenge me to grow. A community that feels like home.

And slowly, without me searching for it, a bigger picture began to form.

The coaching. The community. The work I do today. None of it came from finding my purpose first. It came from living purposefully, day after day, and letting the path reveal itself.

Purpose Is Built, Not Found

Here's what I know now.

Your purpose isn't hiding somewhere, waiting for you to find it. It's being built, quietly, in the way you live your days.

Each day you live with intention is a brick. Each meaningful choice, each genuine connection, each moment you show up as your truest self. Over time, those bricks become something you can look back on and recognise.

Oh. This is what I was here to do.

You don't need the full answer to begin. You just need today.

A Simple Practice to Start

Tomorrow morning, before you pick up your phone, take a few minutes and ask yourself three questions:

1️⃣ What would make today feel meaningful? Not productive. Meaningful. It might be one conversation, one task, or one moment of rest.

2️⃣ Who do I want to be today? Patient? Brave? Present? Choose one word and let it guide how you show up.

3️⃣ What can I let go of today? One thing that drains you, and doesn't need your energy right now.

Then in the evening, take a moment to reflect. When did I feel most alive today? Who gave me energy? What would I like more of?

Do this for a few weeks and you'll start to notice patterns. Those patterns are your purpose, showing itself to you.

You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out

If you're searching for your life purpose right now and feeling frustrated that you haven't found it yet, I want you to know this.

Nothing is wrong with you. You're not behind.

You might just be asking a question that's too big to answer all at once.

So start smaller. Live today with purpose. Then tomorrow. Then the day after that.

Your purpose will find you along the way.
